Yesterday, Time Warner Cable rolled out its new iPad application with live streaming of 30 TV channels (For more, click here). Today, the MSO says it had to scale back to 15 channels because of overwhelming demand.

The TWCableTV app’s popularity was so strong that it unfortunately overwhelmed the system, causing an inability for some customers to download it last night, and it now ranks as the most frequently downloaded free app in the App Store.

“We’re thrilled that our customers like the new app and now are able to enjoy television in any room in the house,” said Rob Marcus, TWC president and COO, in a statement. “We apologize that some of our customers who attempted to use the new TWCableTV app for the iPad were unable to do so last night. We are sorry for any frustration and inconvenience our customers experienced.”

The company says the full complement of 30 channels will be restored as quickly as possible, and more channels will be added in future iterations.
