Standardized Optical Transport Network (OTN) switching on Tellabs 7100 Optical Transport System enables service providers to aggregate and encapsulate a variety of traffic, including native Ethernet and SONET/SDH, and transport it as an aggregated traffic bundle across backbone networks. Tellabs new OTN offering enhances business and enterprise services by offering a low latency solution that is service transparent – multiple customers’ traffic can ride on the same wavelength. Offering the capability to scale to 100 Gbps per optical wavelength and switching rates of more than 1 Tbps, the Tellabs OTN solution provides capacity to support continuous bandwidth growth well into the future.

Mobile and wireline service providers, cable operators and government agencies can all apply OTN switching technology and the flexibility, scalability, and reliability it offers, to reduce cost and improve the efficiency of their transport networks.
