The offers of help following Hurricane Katrina keep pouring in. Comcast companies and The Comcast Foundation donated $10mln in advertising time on its cable systems and $50K in cash to the American Red Cross for relief efforts. The MSO also plans to dedicate VOD programming in Sept to air Red Cross updates, benefit concerts and information on how the public can help relief efforts. — BET will premiere a 21/2-hour telethon Sept 9 to help with recovery. The event is being organized with the National Urban League, the American Red Cross, Warner Music Group and the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network. — Oxygen is donating money to help kids who have been evacuated from the New Orleans Children’s Hospital. Visit http://speakup.oxygen.com/campaigns/neworleans enter a little info and a dollar goes to a child in need. — CableFAX parent Access Intelligence is setting up a dollar-for- dollar matching program for employee donations. — NAB members have committed to raising at least $100mln for relief efforts.
