Viacom is contemplating splitting into 2 companies: one would be dominated by cable nets and led by Tom Freston, the other would include broadcast (TV and radio) and headed by Les Moonves. Viacom plans to offer more details in 2Q. "We believe that a separation of our businesses into distinct and strong operating entities would allow us to optimize our capital structure and create unique investments that are more appealing to investors with different objectives," CEO Sumner Redstone said in a statement.
