Why Him? We’ll give you 183 reasons. As in the 183 channels that Lopez oversees, which reach 300 million customers in 35 languages. Fox International Channels’ performance has been impressive, and with media companies increasingly looking to mine international opportunities, Lopez is poised atop a key growth unit at News Corp.
Global “Story”: FX’s programming is clicking overseas. The recent premiere of the network’s “American Horror Story” drew more than 3.2 million viewers in 59 countries, outperforming the competition in many markets and ranking as one of FIC’s strongest international premieres. Lopez’s group also is showcasing AMC’s hit show “The Walking Dead” globally, reaching more than 200 million international viewers, and now a bonafide international hit, too.
Year Ahead: Earlier this year, FIC formed Fox Hispanic Media Group to help marketers reach Hispanic consumers. With massive Hispanic growth in the U.S. coupled with Hernan’s prowess, we’re betting this division will perform well in 2012.
