Sigma Designs, a system-on-chip (SoC) provider for consumer electronics, has announced a partnership with 4Home, a provider of home control services. The partners will offer set-top box suppliers a home control solution based on 4Home’s software platform and Sigma’s Z-Wave ecosystem of RF-based home control devices. The set-top box (STB) reference design is being unveiled today at CableLabs’ Summer Conference in Keystone, CO.

Targeted for STB’s in the cable, telco and CE markets, the solution is designed to provide a foundation of control-related applications for the home, including energy monitoring and home security.

Sigma Designs’ Z-Wave technology is an interoperable, wireless mesh networking technology that allows a wide array of devices in and around the home to communicate.
