Judging by our email, Cfax readers have a plethora of opinions about National. Plenty said NCTA should not hold the show in New Orleans, others pointed to Vegas as a locale, and some said NCTA’s hometown of DC should be the site (some buzzed that’s already in the works). One reader wrote: "if the NCTA and the cable industry really want to support New Orleans, they should commit to have National in New Orleans as planned. It’s 9 months from now, when the needs of the city trying to recover and recoup become critical. The conventions, jobs, influx of money and the need for good publicity at that point will be as needed then, as money, water and food supplies are needed now." Another wrote, "I’ve said for years that what companies spend on National could feed a Third World nation. Why not cancel National and send the money we would have spent to New Orleans’ relief."
