RGB Networks is demonstrating how cable operators can use just three RGB products to build a complete digital video headend at a fraction of the cost, space and power required by other solutions.

The demonstration highlights RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor (BNP), Dynamic Bandwidth Manager (DBM) and Universal Scalable Modulator (Modulator) working together to deliver a complete lineup of bandwidth-optimized HD, SD and VOD programming with digital ad insertion and overlays. Specifically, each product performs the following:

• The BNP aggregates multiple HD and SD programs, transrates each for maximum bandwidth efficiency and picture quality, and inserts local ads and digital overlays into these programs.

• The DBM transrates VOD programs in real time to deliver 50 percent more VOD content per 6 MHz channel without impacting picture quality.

• The USM takes in the HD, SD and VOD programs output from the BNP and DBM and modulates them all for delivery over the cable network.
