At TelcoTV, RGB Networks is demonstrating how telecom carriers can use the advanced transcoding capabilities of its Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) to deliver a full suite of standard definition and high definition (HD) programming, regardless of the format or bit rate. Unlike single channel transcoders, the VMG is capable of simultaneously transcoding hundreds of programs, while also performing a number of other functions, including aggregation, grooming, replication, transrating and ad insertion.

Reply comments are due today at the FCC on its quadrennial review of broadcast ownership rules. That means it’ll probably be Monday before the FCC posts them all, and while many comments are likely to restate entrenched positions, a few new threads may still emerge.
