A CTAM quiz of cable marketers about networks’ affiliate marketing Web sites shows there’s room for improvement. The sites need to be simpler and differentiate themselves from consumer destinations, they said. Think substance, not flash. Marketers asked for more interpersonal communications, noting their relationship with an affiliate rep influences their likelihood to use a net’s marketing materials. Also on the wishlist: print materials in a size that can be easily edited for a multiple network promo; give more guidance as to when/why a system would want to use a promo. — CTHRA’s annual compensation study found merit raises for ops and programmers have stayed consistent over the last 3 years at 3.5% for ops and 4.0% for programmers. Base salaries rose an avg of 4.5% (ops), 3.3% for prog/broadcasters last year.
