Acterna was the overall category leader in a broadband test equipment user survey commissioned by Hermes Media & Research. The survey by Edge Research queried 100 MSO engineers in Feb. It also found test equip manufacturers need to improve back-end support from vendors. Acterna led the product quality ratings in signal level meters, with 97% rating its product quality from "good/above average" to "excellent/superior." ComSonics had the lead (71%) in the signal leakage detector category, while Sunrise Telecom led monitoring test equip with an 83% rating. — The way people watch TV is changing-but not all that fast, says a study by CTAM and Lieberman Research Worldwide. 57% of respondents said they had watched scheduled TV programs the night before and appointment viewing is still common. Some potential good news for cable: of the 2 in 10 viewers who say they’re likely to buy an HDTV set, 56% say they’d likely get programming from cable vs 25% for satellite and 9% for broadcast.
