RCN Corporation and TiVo have launched TiVo Premiere from RCN in the Boston area. RCN uses TiVo as its primary provider of DVRs. This co-branded, uniquely configured product for RCN’s residential and small businesses enables RCN customers to combine their digital TV, movies, Web and music all into one box.

With built-in broadband capabilities, customers can access entertainment from a variety of sources, all through one remote and one easy-to-use interface. In addition to accessing RCN’s Video On Demand (VOD) library, customers can link via broadband to rent movies from additional VOD services, watch YouTube videos and stream music.

FrameChannel, TiVo Premiere’s latest application, combines the Web and television even further, bringing social media content, such as Facebook photo and status updates, local news, sports, stock quotes and weather directly to the TV. Additionally, TiVo Premiere can access songs, photos and movies saved on a personal computer.

Previously launched in Washington, D.C. and New York City, upcoming market launches include Chicago, Philadelphia, and Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. In Boston, it will be offered as part of a bundled package of digital TV and high-speed Internet services.
