USA and TNT tied for the #1 spot in prime this summer, while non ad-supported Disney (1.9/1.55mln) took 2nd. Lifetime (1.6/1.36mln), Cartoon (1.6/1.36mln) and Nick at Nite (1.6/1.35mln) all tied for 3rd. Stalwart Nick once again laid claim to top total programming day honors (1.9/1.67mln). Brag Book: The Democratic Convention is over and so seemingly are CNN’s days of dominating convention ratings. Fox News nabbed 3.86mln persons 2+ for the 1st night of GOP coverage. CNN had 1.26mln during the same 8-11:30pm timeslot. MSNBC averaged 854K. Meanwhile, Comcast’s CN8 pulled a 1.5 rating at 9pm in the Philadelphia cable market. — MTV’s VMAs Sun brought in more than double the number of 12-34s than NBC’s Olympic Closing Ceremony. It averaged a 9.7 among the demo and a 7.9 HH rating. — VH1 is fresh off its most-watched summer ever, averaging 380K 18-49 viewers. — TV Guide Channel’s Olympics partnership with NBC paid off, driving 35mln HHs to the broadcast nets and its cable counterparts. — A&E had a strong summer with impressions among 25-54s increasing 34% to 563K. In addition to solid performances by series such as "Growing up Gotti" and "Airline," it’s seen "Biography" ratings climb about 50%. — Sci Fi had its best summer ever, delivering a 1.1 HH rating. — HGTV notched its 20th consecutive month of YOY HH delivery increases. It had its highest Aug prime in HH ratings (0.85) and impressions (727K). — Lifetime had its highest monthly prime rating among women 18-34 (1.0) since Sept ’02-up 25% from last Aug. — Cartoon snagged its best summer kids’ total day delivery and ratings since launch (2.3/543K for 6-11s and 2.1/842K for 2-11s). — Court TV averaged 997K prime viewers in Aug-making it the most- watched month in the net’s 13-year history.
