Sandvine: Following his recent retirement from Rogers Communications, Dermot O’Carroll joined Sandvine’s board of directors. As senior vice president/Network Engineering and Operations at the Canadian operator, he was involved with all aspects of the evolution of the operator’s network, including planning, engineering and operations.
 
CableLabs: Wayne Surdam is the new vice president/Communications at CableLabs, slated to work from the Silicon Valley area, where the group plans a major expansion; his first day on the job was Jan. 2. Surdam, formerly vice president/Media and Influencer Relations at Hewlett-Packard, reports to another former HP colleague, Phil McKinney, who took over as CableLabs president/CEO last summer.
