Formalized by the board and effective immediately, the move is part of the operator’s established succession plan. Torbeck joined Cincinnati Bell in 2010 as president/GM of Cincinnati Bell Communications, responsible for all Cincinnati-based communications businesses, which include Cincinnati Bell Telephone and other wireline companies, Cincinnati Bell Wireless and CBTS.
Brightcove: David Mendels, currently president/COO at cloud content-services provider Brightcove, will move up to CEO in April, succeeding Chairman/CEO Jeremy Allaire, who becomes executive chairman. Prior to joining Brightcove in 2010, Mendels was senior vice president/GM for Adobe’s Business Productivity Unit, responsible for more than $1 billion in revenue from products including Acrobat, Connect, LiveCycle and Flex.
The National Cyber Security Alliance: Jay Opperman, executive director/Security and Privacy at Comcast Cable, joined the NCSA board of directors. NCSA is a non-profit, public/private partnership focused on online security. Opperman also founded Constant Guard, reportedly the most comprehensive program in the ISP industry for online safety and security, and protecting millions of Comcast subscribers.
