McAvoy has worked at  ATG (acquired by Oracle), VeriFone Systems (acquired by GTCR), Aprisma Management Technologies (acquired by Concord Communications) and The Learning Company/Broderbund (acquired by Mattel and The Gores Group). He also did M&A for The Gores Group.
