Optelian Enhances OTN
Optelian has announced the availability of enhanced OTN capabilities with the release of the new RGN-10XO 10 Gb/s, G.709-compliant regenerator module.?
“Many network operators will use OTN only for its forward error correction (FEC) capability when they are provisioning longer spans,” said Dave Mills, VP Sales for Optelian. “As we move forward, OTN’s enhanced fault isolation and performance monitoring will be adopted to save troubleshooting costs and support service level agreements with end user customers.”?
The RGN-10XO can act as a mid-span OTN regenerator or a demarcation point regenerator between an OTN and non-OTN network. It can also act as a transponder, wrapping a short-reach 1310 or 1550nm native client signal into a long-reach OTU-2 signal. It has pluggable XFP interfaces for use in a wide variety of applications including CWDM and DWDM systems.
