On the Circuit
WICT named 26 members to its newest Betsy Magness Leadership Institute (http://www.wict.org). The exec leadership program convenes in Oct with a weeklong immersion at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC. — NAMIC NY holds its celeb golf classic Sept 18, Long Island Natl Golf Club (212/969-8622). — CTPAA’s annual conference in DC will be at the Ritz-Carlton, May 1-4; Court TV’s Scoot MacPherson and Cox’s Anthony Surratt are chairs. — With the heavy dose of partisan politicking on the Hill these days, it’s refreshing to see lawmakers on both sides of the aisle agreeing on something. Recently the co-chair of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children Caucus Rep Mark Foley (R-FL) inserted a statement into The Congressional Record praising Court TV and CEO Henry Schleiff for running the show "Al Roker Investigates: Katie.com," which detailed the story of a 13 yr-old girl who was victimized by an Internet predator. He applauded "Court TV’s active role in shedding light on Internet deception…it will help protect America’s children and raise much needed awareness to parents across the country." And Rep Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) sent Schleiff a note lauding Court TV original film "Chasing Freedom," about the treatment of Afghan women under the Taliban. A special showing of the film was held for members of Congress on the Hill recently.
