Just back from the Senate hearing on a possible rewrite of the 1992 Cable Act (see Inside The Beltway today), ACA President/CEO Matthew Polka told attendees this morning that senators appear to acknowledge the Act is outdated and that retrans-consent negotiations are not free-market negotiations. Noting that there will be more hearings on the Hill this fall regarding such issues as sports pricing, Polka urged the audience to “stay focused and committed”…Wave Broadband accepted the 2012 Independent Operator of the Year award from sister publication CableFAX.
