Level 3 Communications has announced the launch of its new Content Delivery Partner (CDP) program aimed at strengthening and expanding the reach of the company’s international portfolio of broadcast and content delivery services.

Level 3’s CDP will allow direct resellers, value-added resellers (VARs) and solutions partners (such as developers of online media players) to leverage the Level 3 CDN for online end-users.

Microsoft will be an inaugural member of Level 3’s new CDP.

"Microsoft looks forward to working together to provide customers with the highest quality interactive experiences with Silverlight and IIS Smooth Streaming," said Steve Sklepowich, director for Silverlight at Microsoft, in a statement.

Other initial CDP participants include Adobe and Cisco Systems.
