Jones/NCTI has updated two of its technical training courses: Broadband Digital Installer and Computers and Broadband Modems.??

The Broadband Digital Installer course introduces the basics of the triple-play installation of digital TV, high-speed Internet and cable telephone services. It presents typical connection schemes and functions of home theater components, twisted-pair wire properties, DOCSIS cable modems and the basics of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

“We added two lessons: Introduction to DOCSIS and Installing a DOCSIS Modem (including DOCSIS 3.0), and our two VoIP lessons were updated to emphasize the difference and advantages of Cable VoIP Services over their managed network as compared to ordinary VoIP services,” said Darrell Severns, curriculum developer for Jones/NCTI, in a statement.

The Computers and Broadband Modems introduces the fundamentals of personal computer (PC) hardware and software in connection with broadband modems, allowing students to gain a thorough understanding of how the PC and modem interface with the broadband network. ??Updates to lessons include: introducing operating systems, understanding the different features of the motherboard, installing and supporting input/output (I/O) devices and Multimedia Devices and mass storage.
