JDSU has introduced the T-BERD/MTS-2000, a handheld modular test set that is capable of conducting a range of test applications for virtually every type of optical fiber network.

“As fixed-line broadband networks and mobile backhaul networks step up the transition to optical solutions, technicians schooled in copper technology are managing an increasing amount of fiber roll outs,” said Enzo Di Luigi, vice president and general manager in JDSU’s Communications Test and Measurement business unit, in a statement.

Growth in mobile video is driving large passive optical network (PON) and fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) deployments where cost, workflow, network performance and quality customer experience are critical. The T-BERD/MTS-2000 is not only FTTx/PON-ready but also drives best practices as it is compatible with JDSU’s FiberComplete, SmartOTDR and P5000i digital inspection analysis solutions.
