At the Cable Show, itaas will showcase technology solutions and tools that demonstrate how to execute on the business strategy of digital video delivery everywhere through multi-platform applications that leverage current network architectures and technologies.

“Our participation at this year’s Cable Show is focused on how itaas can help our customers provide consumers with a connected experience by ‘bringing it all together’ … the legacy systems with the new; the current network architecture that is moving to IP-based architectures; and the set-top with Web-enabled CE devices,” said Vibha Rustagi, itaas’ CEO and president, in a statement.

Demos include:

  • Video Streaming – This application allows consumers to select and view streaming video content delivered by Clearleap’s Web-based VOD platform, Stream On Demand. The OTT video content can be started on an iPad and then paused and resumed on a Roku box connected to the TV.
  • Mobile Marketing and Messaging – Interactive applications such as the itaas-developed EBIF applications from Neustar and InDemand. Neustar’s Text Everywhere application demonstrates the ability to send text messages directly to a TV. The InDemand event reminder application provides a way to increase pay per view (PPV) event buyrates by leveraging SMS text messaging to a subscriber’s cell phone to remind them to buy an event.
  • Wireless Content Search and Set-top Tuning – itaas will show enhanced mobile search capabilities for linear programming and on-demand content, including creative consumer features such as “shake and view” movie selection and playlists. The demonstrations show tablets supporting Android, iOS and HTML5 to tune set-tops that use both EBIF and native platforms.
  • Testing and monitoring – itaas will showcase the latest tools and services offered to monitor and improve performance and reliability, including VOD monitoring tools and testing services.

In addition, itaas has developed the iLaunch program to include a suite of applications and tools that are pre-tested for the EBIF platform. The applications include offerings from itaas, programmers and third-party developers that are tested on EBIF-enabled systems to ensure maximum functionality and standards compliance prior to being selected.

iLaunch, a “plug and play” program, will allow cable operators to quickly and easily customize and deploy a variety of EBIF applications that will provide an enhanced TV viewing experience for consumers.

According to SNL Kagan, the number of set-tops supporting the EBIF platform will reach over 48 million by 2012. The iLaunch basic starter kit will include three applications: Remind and Record, QuickStart, and News, Weather & Sports Info.
