CTAM’s On Demand Consortium decided on recommended icons for the VOD user interface. The icons will be made available to the entire industry for next-generation user interfaces. It created a category logo for On Demand that features the words encircled by 2 arrows. Other icons include 2 triangles to indicate fast forward and 3 triangles to represent high-speed fast forward. A magnifying glass represents search and a star illustrates special offers. The consortium consists of more than 40 companies; it agreed on 18 icons for more than 22 functions it’s hoping to better define. "These icons will become a part of the consumers’ consciousness for the On Demand category, much like those visual cues now on a VCR," says Seth Davidson, svp, gm, corporate initiatives.
