FiberTower Petitions FCC For Service Relief
Following its Chapter 11 filing last summer and some adverse licensing decisions handed down by the FCC, Calif.-based FiberTower Corporation has asked the agency for permission to discontinue some of its services (as of April 30) in Gillette, Ark.; Denver; Washington, D.C.; Tampa; Atlanta; Baltimore and other suburban portions of Maryland; Boston; Detroit; New Jersey; New York; Cleveland; Pittsburgh; Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Waco, Texas; and in all of Virginia. The operator currently offers point-to-point wireless, and fiber-optic backhaul and transport services that use fixed wireless and fiber-optic circuits. Comments on this petition (WC Docket No. 13-9 and Comp. Pol. File No. 1072) are due Jan. 28.
