DoE Hosts All-Day STB Power Discussion
A Feb. 27 all-day public meeting at U.S. Department of Energy HQ will address the agency’s proposal to establish a new test procedure to measure STB power consumption. The DoE wanted the cable industry to devise its own energy-efficiency plan. Last month, 15 operators across cable, satellite and telco TV crafted a voluntary five-year STB Energy Conservation Agreement that’s expected to yield annual residential electricity savings of $1.5 billion-plus. The meeting also can be watched on the Web by reserving a spot at https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/478802136.
