Digital home researcher HGI just published Document HGI -RW016 — Home Gateway and Home Network Diagnostics Module Requirements that sets out a common industry approach to troubleshooting. The document specifies an overall diagnostics architecture as well as a set of diagnostic functions in the home gateway, including connection- and service-related counters and statistics that need to be tracked.
