Bill Bresnan turns 71 Sun, and he’s vowing (this time) to keep the promise he made on his 70th birthday. "I’m going to take Fridays off." Or at least maybe take one Friday off every couple of weeks, he adds. For the year ahead, the cable pioneer says operators should just keep doing what they’re doing-rolling out new services. Wall St isn’t quite getting it, judging by the low valuations it currently places on the sector, but Bresnan is jazzed about cable’s prospects. "The cable industry can be a greater competitor than it has been in the past two years," he says. "The main thing now is to get these services out there into the communities." And while the relationship between cable operators and programmers is not as good as it used to be, it takes two to tango, he notes, "and I presume the realities of that will keep us together." – Mavis Scanlon
