At Mobile World Congress, Genband, a developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, announced its Mobile Edge Optimization Suite as an enhancement to the P Series of Traffic and Policy Management (TPM) Solutions.

With today’s mobile networks dominated by smartphones, tablets, laptops and other data-capable devices, increasingly heavy demand is placed on mobile packet data networks. The P Series Mobile Edge Optimization Suite can intelligently manage network traffic by relieving signaling overload caused by smart devices and mobile data congestion in the Radio Access Network (RAN).

Deployed in the RAN to identify overloaded cell sites and alleviate traffic congestion, the GENBAND P Series Mobile Edge Optimization solution is transparent to Radio Network Controllers (RNCs) and Service Gateway Support Nodes (SGSNs). This solution permits plug-and-play deployment for minimal operator provisioning.

Genband also announced a significant increase in throughput capabilities and support for IPv6 across its P Series portfolio of TPM solutions.
