GENBAND Extends Unified Communications to Mobile Subscribers
GENBAND and CounterPath Corporation have entered into a strategic, long-term agreement to provide mobile client solutions for GENBAND’s A2 Communications Application Server. The scope of the relationship includes joint development and marketing of enhanced unified communications capabilities that extend voice, messaging, presence and video services to mobile and tablet devices.
“By tightly integrating our A2 Communications Application Server with CounterPath’s leading Bria softphone client, we are further unleashing the A2’s promise of delivering rich, unified communications anytime, on any device and from any place," said Charlie Vogt, president and CEO of GENBAND, in a statement.
CounterPath and GENBAND will enable a universal and unique user experience for A2 customers, ranging from common address books accessible from any device, to IM and presence federation, to the ability to choose the most effective use of 3G or VoIP routing. GENBAND customers will have the ability to introduce bundled services in any business or consumer plan and further customize mobile clients with their logos.
GENBAND’s A2 platform is a full-featured telephony and multimedia applications server, currently servicing approximately 200 mobile, VoIP and IMS networks worldwide. The A2 provides consumer and business services, SIP trunking and unified communications for mobile, fixed, broadband and cable operators.
CounterPath’s Bria is a carrier-grade, next generation softphone application that enables users to manage communications from one interface. Replacing or complementing a hard phone, Bria allows users to make VoIP and video calls over IP, see when contacts are available, send instant messages and transfer files.
