Genband, a developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today said the S3 Session Border Controller on the Genband Genius platform is generally available and currently being deployed. The new Genius platform enables additional IP solutions, such as call control or traffic and policy management, using the same chassis as the S3, minimizing footprint and power requirements.

Genius is an open ATCA, software-centric IP platform to fully integrate call control, session, signaling, security, application and traffic and policy management. The platform takes advantage of high-density computing hardware and an advanced SAF (Service Availability Forum)-compliant middleware.

In other Genband news, the company announced the launch of the GenFuzion Developer Community, which will be hosted by Coral CEA, a non-profit community organization that leverages technologies and expertise in the Web Collaboration and Communications Enabled Applications (CEAs) domain. To kick off the GenFuzion, Genband today launched the GenFuzion Developers Challenge, which will recognize the top three app developers from across six strategic categories with $15,000 for first place, $10,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place.
