As a result of a strengthened focus on OSS and BSS, and of its recent acquisition U.S.-based Telcordia, Ericsson was ranked second in OSS/BSS and next-generation service delivery platforms by Gartner.

In 2011, Ericsson says it signed 33 new contracts for OSS, BSS, SDP and data-center build, of which 26 were for OSS and BSS.

Per Borgklint, head of Ericsson’s Support Solutions business, notes, "With the increased need for operators to rapidly respond to changing consumer demands and the need for increased efficiency and innovation, Operations and Business Support Systems are a key element of any operator’s network strategy. We already have a leading position in key areas, such as charging and billing, where we serve 1.7 billion people with our solutions."??

Through the acquisition of Telcordia, completed Jan. 12 (for more information, click here), Ericsson says it’s also strengthened its position in service fulfillment and assurance and network optimization as well as its capabilities to support operators end-to-end.??Looking forward, Ericsson predicts high-speed mobile broadband will be a technology catalyst to transform OSS and BSS solutions for operators.
