EXFO says its PSO-200 Optical Modulation Analyzer has simultaneously measured the bit error rate (BER) of a DP-NRZ-16-QAM signal beyond the industry-required forward error correction (FEC) limit and demonstrated waveform measurements using industry-standard ‘word length’, all at a 66 GBd rate.? ?The result of this demonstration shows that the PSO-200 offers an efficient solution for characterization of 100 Gbps signals, and is also a flexible approach for characterization of signals beyond 100 Gbps – where both multilevel QAM and higher symbol rates will likely be used.
