Enterprises Ramp Cloud Telephony, UC Take-Up
According to Diane Myers, principal analyst/VoIP, UC and IMS at Infonetics Research, vendors have been adding cloud telephony and unified communications (UC) services to their SIP trunking products as more multisite businesses look for hybrid offerings. The global VoIP services market, including residential and business services, totaled $63 billion in 2012, up 9 percent year over year, and she predicts the combined business/home VoIP market will reach nearly $83 billion in 2017. Managed IP PBX services continue to be the most popular VoIP menu item for enterprises, with sales growing 9 percent last year. However, due to continued demand for cloud-based services, hosted VoIP and UC services revenue grew 17 percent last year, the most in any segment Infonetics analyzed.
