Comcast [CMCSA] yesterday launched DVR/HD throughout its metropolitan DC/VA footprint, marking its 1st rollout of the robust service. The MSO deployed Motorola’s [MOT] "DCT-6208" DVR/HD set-top, while tests of S-A’s [SFA] standard-def, Explorer 8000 are ongoing in areas of N VA. (Motorola said its dual-tuner model should be available in the 2nd half of this year.) Subs opting in to the service will be charged $9.95/month. Comcast plans to have DVR service available to 100% of its sub base by year-end.
