Calix Inc. soon will acquire Ericsson’s fiber access assets, and it also will become Ericsson’s preferred global partner for broadband access applications. The assets expected to be included are the Ericsson EDA 1500 GPON solution and its complementary ONT portfolio; the buyer also will ask more than 60 U.S.-based Ericsson staffers to join the company…Rogers Communications and Bell Canada completed the joint acquisition of a net 75-percent stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Comments Rogers President/CEO Nadir Mohamed, “This investment fits squarely into our strategy of cost-effectively securing premium content and making it accessible to sports fans wherever, whenever they want. We look forward to working with MLSE to create highly interactive and engaging experiences for hockey, basketball and soccer fans.” Rogers’ net cash investment in the transaction totals approximately $533 million.
