At our deadline, Viacom [VIA] and EchoStar [DISH] still hadn’t reached an agreement in their ongoing contract talks with a contract extension set to expire at midnight last night. If an agreement wasn’t reached or another extension granted, Dish Net subs may have awakened to discover nets such as MTV missing from their tubes. Viacom has signed several renewal agreements in recent days, with DirecTV most recently agreeing to renew carriage of the MTV Nets as well as CBS (analog and HD), UPN and BET. The DBS provider also will add Nicktoons to its "Total Choice" package.
