Cablevision Systems today submitted a response to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the Request for Expression of Interest for Wireless Broadband Services in Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad trains and stations, proposing that its Optimum WiFi service be considered for wireless Internet access across the MTA’s railroad system.

Optimum WiFi is already broadly available in high-traffic and commercial locations like downtown areas, parks and other outdoor locations across Cablevision’s New York, New Jersey and Connecticut service areas. The network spans thousands of access points, including outdoor availability at more than 96 percent of LIRR and MNR platforms and parking lots in Cablevision’s service area, which are among its most popular areas of usage.
