CableLabs’ Chief Executive Officer Dr. Paul Liao has decided not to renew his contract when it expires in December of 2012. Liao informed the CableLabs executive committee last week in New York that he will fulfill his contract as CableLabs’ CEO, but has made the decision not to renew his contract due to personal reasons. The executive committee agreed to execute a succession plan and begin the search for a new CEO immediately to ensure a smooth transition. Liao will continue at CableLabs during the transition.

CableLabs was founded in 1988 by members of the cable television industry. Liao had succeeded Dr. Richard Green as CableLabs’ CEO. The organization recently opened a new office in San Francisco. (For more, see CableLabs Taps Into The Bay Area Mentality).
