Why Him? Gaspin received a strong vote of internal confidence this year when oversight of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios were added to his expansive purview. And why not? He’s delivered success with the purchase and integration of Oxygen, impressive viewership and financial results across cable nets such as Bravo and USA, and a heady breadth of Beijing Olympics coverage. The Vancouver games should only solidify his talent in effectively spinning content across platforms and channels. Now he has Universal films at his disposal for symbiotic distribution. Watch out.

Worth Watching: Gaspin sits at the control panel as NBCU grapples with the industry’s multiplatform mania. His maneuverings should be compelling theater.
