Why Them? Talk about the gift that keeps on giving. Is there a better way to describe C-SPAN, cable’s gift to America? And while the political fever pitch was expected to decline after the presidential election, the issues of health care, federal relief for the financial system and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have continued to feed Americans’ appetite for politics. And ready with linear, online and mobile platforms is C-SPAN, thanks to the multi-tasking of its small staff, led by Swain, Kennedy ( pictured, right) and founder Brian Lamb ( pictured, rear), who insists the spotlight shine on his colleagues. We’re glad to oblige.
Inaugural Bliss: While others covered the glitz of inaugural balls, C-SPAN provided glimpses of the splendor but also offered presidential historian Richard Norton Smith, who contributed insight on everything from the balls’ origin to the choice of music played that evening.
Year Ahead:
Cable support for C-SPAN remains strong.
