Starz Entertainment, LLC – Spartacus: Gods of the Arena Digital Online Campaign
The ads for Spartacus’s new season in January 2012 highlighted the series’ lesser-known gladiators—namely the slave-turned-gladiator and title character—through video ads, in an effort to attract new fans to the programming. The goal was to bill these other characters as equally exciting—and it worked. The grit, blood and sand from within the gladiator arena were nearly palpable through the show’s moving banner ads and interactive arena on Starz.com. Moreover, the campaign generated thousands of new Facebook fans, helping to prolong the series’ momentum via word-of-mouth.
