CableFAX: 6. Son of Anarchy: Tony Vinciquerra
Tony Vinciquerra
Title: Chairman/CEO, Fox Networks Group
Age: Old enough to know better
Education: BA, SUNY at Albany
Social Media Quotient: 5
Why Him? The addition of Fox Broadcasting programming to Tony V’s responsibilities in March doesn’t add juice to his qualifications for our cable-only list, yet his bulging portfolio impresses regardless. Besides Fox broadcasting, the low-key Vinciquerra oversees 36 domestic cable nets and 170 international channels, reaching 350+mln subs in 32 languages, numbers that rival any exec in the business. Also impressive: cable nets’ 1Q operating income jumping 41% YOY to $495mln.
All in the Family Moment: Foxies had to chuckle when Michael J. Fox received an Emmy in ’09 for appearances on FX’s Rescue Me.
Year Ahead:
Rupert Murdoch lauded Vinciquerra’s work in Q1, saying cable contributes roughly half of News’ operating income. ’10 will be a year "of stability," Murdoch believes.
