Time Warner Cable launched “TWCWiFi-Passpoint,” a new national WiFi option that offers better online security. The service uses encryption technology to ensure subs get the same level of protection on the MSO's public WiFi network that they receive with their in-home WiFi connection. In addition, the company is launching HotSpot 2.0 technology on most of the access points across its nationwide net. The new network service is available on nearly all of TWC's 33K WiFi hotspots throughout Southern CA, NYC, Austin, Charlotte, Kansas City, Myrtle Beach and Hawaii. As the MSO continues to expand its WiFi network, all new hotspots will offer the TWCWiFi-Passpoint option.
