Comcast announced it will launch a joint Wi-Fi initiative with T-Mobile in the MSO’s hometown. The service, which weds Comcast’s HSD grid with T-Mobile’s "HotSpot" network, will enable wireless Internet service beginning next month in Philly’s Headhouse Square Plaza (in Old City). The service will be free for the 1st 6 months, though no price has been set for thereafter. — Charter tapped nCUBE’s digital ad system and VOD platform to support the MSO’s all-digital Long Beach, CA, network. Charter has been offering VOD in the market since Aug ’01; all told, the company has rolled out 15 ad and VOD markets with nCUBE. — Digital media and server-based software company NS8 signed a strategic biz agreement with Broadband Utility to market VOD solutions to private cable and telco operators.
