Charter [CHTR] is upping its broadband download speeds to 3Mbps in most markets this month, and improving upload speeds to 256kbps in markets now at 128kbps. More than 85% of the MSO’s markets will have the faster speeds. The increases won’t cost subs anything extra. — EarthLink [ELNK] is teaming with online content provisioning company Synacor to launch premium sports product "EarthLink Premium Sports." The service retails for $9.95/month and will feature Nascar, MLB, NHL, college sports and fantasy sports content via Synacor’s "Portelus," which makes it all available through a single sign-in and interface. — Customer service software provider SupportSoft snagged deals with Charter [CHTR] and Adelphia. Charter will roll out its "SmartAccess" software for provisioning new broadband subs, while Adelphia is using "LiveAssist" to troubleshoot broadband sub problems through enhanced online chat and Web push functionality.
