Even when they’re winning, NY’s Mets can look silly. During Mon’s home opener against the Astros, a rotating billboard above Shea Stadium’s outfield wall became stuck on an a large ad for MSG and FSNY’s HD feeds (it featured an image of Mets’ pitcher Pedro Martinez, who enjoyed the exposure). A CableFAX reader who skipped work to attend the game said the ad wouldn’t flip to black during the 6th inning, as is customary during play. The solution: They slapped up a black tarp to cover the distracting image. Unfortunately, much of the tarp blew away, resulting in a slapstick retrieval effort. "I’m not sure what was funnier, watching those guys struggle or hearing people blame Time Warner," our spy said, referring to the carriage standoff that sent him to the ballpark in the 1st place. — MSG and FSNY’s combined ratings are down 54% since the season began, while the Mets’ over- the-airhead weekend host WPIX-11 has seen a 1% increase for its 2 broadcasts.
