Why Him? High numbers typically elicit screams of anguish in golf; however, McCarley’s stunning run for the Golf Channel calls for cries of joy. A Tiger-sized crowd made it the most watched year ever for the network, and same goes for its mobile brethren, which teed off the year with its best quarter ever. McCarley also launched 24/7 streaming of Golf Channel in Q2, bringing live coverage of the 2013 NCAA National Championship to Golf Channel after a 10-year absence on television. He also negotiated for full coverage of the World Long Drive Championships, which used to be a tape-delay special on ESPN, and will debut coverage this fall. To boot, he also manages GolfNow, the largest tee time booking service in the world.
