88 | WHO YOU CALLING A BABY?
Why Him? As many nets doggedly jump through hoops to court millennials, Fitzpatrick leads RLTV in focusing on affluent and content-starved boomers. This unconventional tactic has netted big gains for RLTV. With Fitzpatrick in command, the channel recently signed major, long-term distribution deals with Bright House Networks and Time Warner Cable. Now millions more mature adults can assess the network’s age-tailored content from their new-fangled flatscreens. As one of the first “boomers,” Fitzpatrick says he’s looking forward to planning the “second act” of his life. We’re sure it’ll be as impressive as the first.
Apple of Samsung? Apple
Beatles or The Rolling Stones? Beatles
The one thing I’d do differently if I could go back to high school: Learn ‘live’ language(s), to complement my Latin and Greek curriculum.
On a Saturday afternoon, you can find me… participating in some sport, working out, or ‘at’ a ballgame—either in person or watching the event on TV.
This is the hobby I’ve been itching to try, but haven’t found time: Playing the piano, which I used to do 50-plus years ago.
My new year’s resolution for 2014 will be… I’m the first of the boomers (b. 1946), and it’s time to plan for my ‘second act.’
My peers would be surprised to learn that I… was born in Australia (mother an Aussie, dad a Yank) and that I lived much of my early, formative years overseas. This would account for much of my behavior.
Appetizer or dessert? Dessert!!
Film fest or music festival? Music, like The Beatles concert in ‘65 at Shea Stadium. (I fortunately was there, ‘holding someone’s hand.’)
The other subject I wish I’d picked for my college major: Business
Favorite decade? The 1960s. No brainer! It was the transformative decade. ?
