Herb Scannell
Title: President, BBC Worldwide North America
Number of Years in Cable: 32
Education: Boston College
Best Advice in 7 Words or Less: A good means makes for better ends.

Why Him? Under Scannell’s leadership, BBC America has joined the originals game—and all signs are pointing up. Its first scripted original “Copper” marked the net’s highest-rated series premiere when it bowed earlier this year. In addition, distribution gains have pushed the net past the 80 million subscriber mark, a significant milestone. Staffers know Scannell as an authentic leader who mandates collaboration. Except, perhaps, when he’s playing Scrabble (he’s a competitor). Expect Scannell to keep expanding the BBCA brand and building on his established audience-centric approach.
